No. While you do receive free registration as a student member, you must register online in advance or on site in person.
The cost for a full conference pass is $0 for OVMA and SCNAVTA members and $20 for non-members. Register online or on site when you arrive at the Conference by going to the on-site registration counter. If you need help with online registration, please read the online registration instructions.
Students who are enrolled in or have been accepted into an accredited college of veterinary medicine are eligible to become an OVMA Student Member and take advantage of complimentary registration for the duration of their veterinary education. Please visit the OVMA Student Membership page for more information. If eligible, you may join via the OVMA website or during the online MVC registration process.
To learn more about membership in the student chapter of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (SCNAVTA), please visit the NAVTA website.
Attendees are strongly encouraged to select the sessions they plan to attend, for the following reasons:
Although advance registration is not required for sessions, keep in mind you must sign up for hands-on labs and some special events (including Connection Corner). These events can be found on the Session Selection page.
You can edit your selections by logging in to your online account. Alternatively, you can edit your schedule in the MVC mobile app (with the exception of hands-on labs), and all changes you make there will be synced with your permanent record.
Student registration includes:
*Please note, the Exhibit Hall is not open on Sunday.
You will receive an email confirmation immediately upon completing your registration. However, OVMA does not mail hard-copy confirmation packets to students in advance, so you will need to pick up your badge on site. Additional information is included in your confirmation email and the event reminder email, sent one week prior to the MVC.
Yes. Students are invited to volunteer as session moderators. Doing so not only helps OVMA execute the largest state-hosted veterinary conference on North America, but also is a great way to begin networking with experts in your fields of interest! Learn more »
Please see the Hotels & Travel page for information on nearby parking, pricing, and advance reservations.
In addition to being an educational event, the MVC is also an opportunity to network with industry professionals, so we recommend business casual attire. Be aware that GCCC and Hyatt room temperatures can vary, so dressing in layers is advised.
Meals are not provided (with the exception of Connection Corner and Sunday Lunch), but coffee, tea, and water are available throughout the day.
When personal or professional circumstances prevent a pre-registered individual from attending the Midwest Veterinary Conference, the OVMA will refund Conference registration fees less a $10 administrative fee plus 10% of fees paid. For students, 90% of the registration fee will be refunded. A written refund request (submitted online, via e-mail, postal mail, or fax) must be received no later than seven days after the last day of the Conference. Refunds will be granted for separate fee specialty programs such as wet labs, less 10% of fees paid, providing the participant’s space is filled by another attendee.
The Veterinary Exploration Conference is a one-day mini-conference that is designed to introduce attendees to the vast range of opportunities available when considering a career in veterinary medicine. The Conference is followed by a college fair at which attendees may talk to representatives from veterinary medical and veterinary technician schools.
High school juniors and seniors, as well as undergraduate college students, are encouraged to attend if they are interested in learning more about a career in veterinary medicine. Parents are also invited to attend a Parent Workshop.
The VEC takes place during the MVC on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel (350 N. High St., Columbus, OH 43215). The specific location inside the Hyatt will be included in your confirmation email.
Both students and parents can register online beginning in December. The cost is $10 per student and $20 per parent, which includes lunch.
If you miss advance registration, a limited number of on-site registrations may be accepted. Please contact OVMA by Friday at 6 p.m. to confirm availability before traveling to Columbus.
The Veterinary Exploration Conference includes lunch for all registered attendees, including parents.
Please see the Hotels & Travel page for information on nearby parking, pricing, and advance reservations.
We recommend business casual attire. Be aware that Hyatt room temperatures can vary, so dressing in layers is advised.
If you are unable to attend, you may cancel your registration by contacting us. We will refund your registration fees, less the service charge.
