Veterinary involvement in aquaculture continues to grow, yet many veterinarians do not have a background in or knowledge of approaches to diagnostics for aquatic animals. In this wet lab, participants will learn approaches to fish health assessment and diagnostics, gain hands-on experience in fish necropsy, and learn where to go for additional help.

B1. RECOVER CPR: Basic and Advanced Life Support Rescuer Certification
Friday, Feb. 21 || 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Description
Part 1: RECOVER BLS – The first part of this day-long workshop is composed of a review of key concepts and practical training using simulated scenarios of performing basic life support (BLS). The training is approximately one and a half to two hours long, with a practical assessment the participants must pass in order to obtain certification as a RECOVER Certified BLS Rescuer®.
Part 2: RECOVER ALS — The second part of the workshop is composed of a review of key concepts and practical training using simulated scenarios of performing advanced life support (ALS). The simulation is conducted with veterinary-specific simulation software, coupled with a high-fidelity simulator or static mannequin. The training is approximately four to five hours long, followed by a practical assessment the participants must pass in order to obtain certification as a RECOVER Certified ALS Rescuer®.

B2. Essential Oils Workshop

Description
In this lab, attendees will gain an understanding of the physiology and olfactory pathway of essential oils. A review of essential oils will be provided, followed by a fun, hands-on exercise in essential oil organoleptics. Attendees will actively engage in using their senses to evaluate several essential oil mystery samples, followed by a reveal. Participants will learn how to blend essential oils and create a hydrosol blend to take home.

C1. Ophthalmic Surgery in General Practice
Saturday, Feb. 22 || 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Description
In this wet lab, participants will use cadaver eyes and eyelids to learn proper technique in removing eyelid tumors, correcting routine entropion, repairing eyelid lacerations, performing cherry eye and other third eyelid surgery, placing temporary tarsorrhaphies, and completing burr and grid keratotomies. All participants will receive a new ophthalmic instrument pack by Movora, which can be used during the lab and taken home after.
